The annual conference of the Council of Chief Judges of the State Courts of Appeal will convene in Kentucky, the “Bluegrass State”, where horses and horse racing, the sport of kings, are revered. The conference theme captures this spirit: “Winning the Race: The Rule of Law and Safeguarding the Role of the Courts.” The only national gathering to address the educational needs and professional concerns of presiding judges of appellate courts, the Council’s annual conference will begin Tuesday, October 17 with an afternoon orientation session for new members, followed in the evening by the Welcome Reception for all attendees. Beginning the next morning, an exciting array of informative speakers will offer thought provoking information and insights on a diverse mix of subjects. Ample opportunities will also be provided for structured and free form exchanges between those in attendance.
A lively social agenda will occupy our guests during the day and all of us after hours. The Lexington area is truly a cornucopia of cultural treasures and entertaining attractions, from museums and antique galleries, to horse farms and race tracks and, of course, the source of Kentucky’s most famous export, bourbon distilleries. Join us in the Bluegrass State October 17-21 and help “Win the Race!”
